In addition to regular worship services on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m., during the church year special services highlight important days. The Feast of St. Francis Assisi is celebrated in early October with a "Blessing of the Animals" service. A service that brings together Bolton's three churches is held on the evening before Thanksgiving. The annual Christmas Pageant is presented by the children of the church the Sunday before Christmas. On Christmas Eve, three services celebrate the birth of the Christ Child, a service for children with young families at 4 p.m., a traditional service at 7 p.m., and Candlelight Lessons and Carols at 11 p.m. Holy Week begins with the Blessing of Palms on Palm Sunday. Holy Thursday features a dramatic and moving observance of solemn eucharist and tenebrae. We greet the sunrise on Easter morning at Davis Farms off Wilder Road, atop one of Bolton's highest hills. Each Memorial Day Sunday, a group of Civil War re-enactors join us as we process from the church to the war memorial for a service of remembrance. On September 11, 2006 a 9/11 Memorial Service was held.

The church offers both infant baptism and adult ("believer's") baptism, as well as services of child dedication. Baptisms are a universally recognized sacrament, and baptisms conducted at the First Parish are valid in all Christian churches. Because baptism is an act of the church, baptisms are normally celebrated at regularly scheduled worship services, although private baptisms are available if circumstance warrants.
The order for baptism as used at the First Parish is based on models prepared by the United Church of Christ and features baptismal promises specifically designed for the church's interdenominational nature. To arrange a baptism, please contact the church administrative assistant.
