With a small staff, most of the work of running the church is accomplished by volunteers who commit to serve for no more than three one-year terms on the various boards and committees.
Volunteers also serve as teachers in our religious education program. Additionally, volunteers usher at worship services, lead the call to worship and shared prayer, provide flowers for the altar, and sing in the choir.

A busy schedule of activities provides opportunities for church members to gather simply for fun and to come to know each other better. The church has sponsored jazz and gospel concerts, white-water rafting expeditions, dinners, movie nights, and trips to the theater. Annual events include a "Homecoming Sunday" brunch, a Halloween Party co-sponsored with St. Francis Xavier Church, the lighting of "The Freedom Tree" each Christmas, a women-only dinner in winter, an Easter Egg Hunt for young children, and a summer barbecue.
